Rites of Spring

May 6, 2010

Warmer weather brings so much more activity. Lots of simple (and complex) pleasures. One of my most treasured experiences is hiking in the Holyoke Range, then heading to The Lady Killigrew in Montague. So many things to love about it — outdoor seating, great setting (next to the Mill River), dogs are allowed, great beer and an excellent salad (warm brown rice with broccoli, mixed greens, shredded carrots and beets and maple-balsamic dressing). It’s like cold beer on a hot day — such a satisfying reward.

Another spring reward was hosting a dinner party at our house. We had a great crowd and made a huge salad (with a Lady K.-esque dressing) and rigatoni with asparagus and a white wine-cream sauce. Good stuff and good company. So satisfying.
